We also love thandai flavored desserts like this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cookingcarnival.com\/gulab-jamun-thandai-mousse\/\">Gulab Jamun mousse with thandai<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cookingcarnival.com\/thandai-melting-moment-butter-cookies\/\">thandai butter cookies<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last Diwali, You guys loved my Indian fusion dessert recipes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cookingcarnival.com\/rasmalai-cake-jars\/\">Rasmalai cake<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cookingcarnival.com\/rose-falooda-cake\/\">Falooda cake<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cookingcarnival.com\/gulab-jamun-cheesecake\/\">Gulab jamun cheesecake<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So here is another delicious Indian flavor cake recipe just in time for the Holi festival, Thandai Tres Leches Cake!! Now you can drink\/eat your Thandai with moist cake!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"what-is-thandai\"   class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" ><strong>What is Thandai?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For those who are unfamiliar with the term thandai, Thandai is a traditional Indian beverage popular in the North Indian states of UP and Rajasthan and made especially for the festival of Holi. It has a cooling effect on the body and hence the name Thandai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To prepare a thandai drink, special masala is made that is called Thandai powder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thandai Powder is a versatile masala with the flavors of cardamom, saffron rose and it is loaded with nuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the masala is ready, mix it in hot boiling milk. Then let it cool and set it in the refrigerator for around 1 hour so that the milk absorbs all the flavors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is quite refreshing to drink and is loaded with some rich ingredients like dry fruits, seeds, and saffron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Thandai masala is great to flavor your milk, use in desserts like cheesecake, kheer, rabdi, yogurt, cakes, and many more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"what-is-tres-leches-cake\"   class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is Tres Leches Cake?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Tres Leches is a vanilla sponge cake soaked in three different types of milk- condensed milk evaporated milk and heavy cream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&ldquo;Tres Leches&rdquo; in itself means three kinds of milk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&rsquo;s popular in Mexico and Latin America and throughout the United States as it&rsquo;s often available at Mexican restaurants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Making an eggless Tres Leches cake recipe post has been on my to-do list for quite some time now. So this time around, I thought of making Tres Leches cake with thandai flavor for holi and you guys&hellip;..let me tell you, this is one of THE BEST cakes I have made!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The flavors are spot on!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"there-are-3-parts-to-this-recipe\"   class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong>There are 3 parts to this recipe.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The base (cake)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Traditionally, a Tres Leches is made with eggs that incorporate a lot of air and make the sponge more capable of absorbing the milk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But since we don&rsquo;t consume eggs, I&rsquo;ve made an eggless version!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I made the sponge using yogurt and baking soda- which is a perfect substitute for eggs! This makes the cake light and fluffy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Milk mixture<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This milk mixture is made with 3 kinds of milk and infused with thandai flavors. Then infuse our cake with this thandai milk mixture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Whipped cream<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We made simple whipped cream for topping the cake. We also added nuts and rose petals leave for garnishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"why-you-will-make-this-recipe\"   class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why you will make this recipe?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Simple to make, eggless and can be made ahead a day in advance<\/li><li>Perfect for the festive season or any special occasion<\/li><li>Tastes as good as it looks<\/li><li>Its moist and perfect Indian fusion cake recipe<\/li><li>The flavor of this dessert is TRULY authentic and quite addictive!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"ingredients-required\"   class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ingredients required<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>(Ingredient measurement is given in Recipe card)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For cake base<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>All-purpose flour<\/strong> &ndash; measure flour and other ingredients correctly. Spoon the flour into a measuring cup and level off the top.<\/li><li><strong>Yogurt \/ Curd<\/strong> &ndash; I have used homemade curd. You can use store bought too.<\/li><li><strong>Flavorings<\/strong> &ndash; Saffron and cardamom powder<\/li><li><strong>Leavening agent<\/strong> &ndash; Baking soda and baking powder<\/li><li><strong>Sweetener<\/strong> &ndash; I have used white small granulate sugar. You can use powdered sugar or brown sugar as well.<\/li><li><strong>Fat<\/strong> &ndash; I have used canola oil. Mix it and let it rest for 5 minutes. (image 1)<\/li><li>Meanwhile, take sugar and oil in a bowl, whisk until sugar is well combined with oil. (image 2 and 3)<\/li><li>Now add curd-baking soda mixture in sugar oil mixture with cardamom and saffron. Whisk until well combined. Out wet mixture is ready. (image 4)<\/li><li>Now sift the flour and baking powder directly onto the wet mixture. (image 5)<\/li><li>Gently fold in the flour and mix until everything is well combined there are no large flour pockets in the batter. (image 6)<ul><li>Tip &ndash; Do not over mix at this stage.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Scrape the batter into the prepared pan and spread out with a spatula. (image 7 and 8)<\/li><li>Bake the cake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes, until the edges are pulling away from the sides of the cake pan, and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with no batter on it. Stir together until combined. Place it in a refrigerator. Let the cake cool for 10 minutes in the pan itself.<\/li><li>After 10 minutes, remove the cake on the wire rack, remove the parchment paper and let the cake cool down completely.<\/li><li>Strain the thandai milk mixture with a strainer. (You can skip this step too) in a glass. (image 13)<\/li><li>Keep \u00be cup of the milk aside for serving.<\/li><li>Now take the cake back in the same pan. (image 14)<\/li><li>After that, use a chopstick to poke holes in the cake. (image 15 and16)<ul><li>Note &ndash; you want a lot of holes.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Once you have holes all over the cake, slowly pour the 2 cups of milk mixture all over the cake. Tilt the pan so that the milk covers the entire cake. (image 17 and 18)<ul><li>Note &ndash; It seems like too much milk. But trust me It&rsquo;s not!<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Cover the cake pan with cling wrap and transfer to the fridge to set completely, and to let the liquid absorb into the cake. This will take at least 1 hour.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Whipped cream<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Meanwhile, let&rsquo;s prepare the whipped cream. You can skip this step and use store-bought whipped cream as well.<\/li><li>Take cold whipping cream in a bowl, add icing sugar and beat until stiff peaks form about 2 to 4 minutes. (image 19 and 20)<\/li><li>Spread the whipped cream over the cake.
